ABOUT LUSH MALA BEADS ॐ

THE STORY OF LUSH MALA BEADS..

Handcrafted with Love

Lush Mala Beads was born from a quiet moment of stillness—a pause between life’s noise, where something sacred stirred. It began not with a plan, but with a practice. In 2014, after completing my yoga teacher training, I found myself craving something tactile and creative, something that would carry the energy of meditation beyond the mat. I made my very first mala for myself, tying each knot with intention and care. And in that moment, something clicked—this was it.

That first mala led to another, and then another. Friends began to ask for custom pieces. Soon I was setting up a little corner in the house with threads, crystals, Rudraksha seeds, and bowls of incense—a sanctuary of beads, silk, and purpose. And so, Lush Mala Beads was born.

Every mala is hand-knotted one bead at a time, using natural materials and ethically sourced gemstones. I work with Rudraksha seeds, sandalwood, silk threads, cotton tassels, and healing crystals, letting intuition guide the flow. No two pieces are exactly the same. Each one is a reflection of someone’s energy, intention, or journey.

But Lush Mala Beads is more than just beautiful jewellery. It’s a way of sharing presence, ritual, and mindfulness with others. These malas are made to support meditation, to mark moments of transition, or to simply remind you of your own inner strength and spirit.

What began as a personal passion has grown into a soulful business. Over the years, I’ve shared my work at markets, festivals, and online—with each mala finding its home in the hands and hearts of people all over the world.

And while the beads are important, so is the life around them. I continue to draw inspiration from yoga, nature, and the incredible people I meet along the way.

Lush Mala Beads is a love story: a love of craft, of connection, of stillness, and of soul. And I’m so grateful to share that story with you.

Meditation Tools with Meaning

Mala beads are sacred strands of beads traditionally used in meditation and prayer. Originating in India over 3,000 years ago, malas are most often associated with Buddhism and Hinduism, where they’re used to count mantras, breaths, or affirmations—helping the mind stay focused and grounded.

A full mala typically contains 108 beads, a number considered spiritually significant across many traditions. There’s also a larger “guru” bead at the end, which marks the starting and ending point of a meditation cycle. Some malas are worn as necklaces, while others are wrapped around the wrist as bracelets.

Today, mala beads are embraced not only as meditation tools, but also as symbols of intention, mindfulness, and healing. They are often made with gemstones, Rudraksha seeds, or sandalwood—each material believed to carry its own unique energy.

Whether used in a daily spiritual practice or simply worn as a reminder to stay present, mala beads are beautiful companions on the journey inward.

The Sacred Seed of Spiritual Protection

Rudraksha is a sacred seed traditionally used in prayer beads, especially in Hinduism and Buddhism. It comes from the fruit of the Elaeocarpus ganitrus tree, which grows in the Himalayan regions, India, Nepal, and parts of Southeast Asia.

According to ancient texts, Rudraksha beads were formed from the tears of Lord Shiva, making them a powerful symbol of spiritual protection, peace, and connection to higher consciousness.

Each bead has natural grooves, called “mukhis,” which are said to carry different energies and meanings. The most commonly used are 5-mukhi Rudraksha, believed to promote calmness, focus, and overall wellbeing.

Wearing Rudraksha beads is thought to support meditation, balance the nervous system, and protect the wearer from negative energies. For thousands of years, sages and yogis have worn them as tools for spiritual growth and grounding.

Beautiful, natural, and deeply symbolic, Rudraksha is more than just a bead—it’s a living connection to the divine.

All Lush Mala Beads ॐ are hand crafted by Mirka with ♡ & positive intentions.

Regular cleansing of your Rudraksha & Gemstone Mala is recommended. Gemstones absorb negative energy well and could also transmit the negativity back if they become saturated. To remove any unwanted energy, leave your Mala in moonlight overnight, let it rest under a tree or in a potted plant, smudge it with sage or lemongrass or use other crystals such as amethyst and quartz crystal.
